The Provincial Government of Guimaras led by Atty. John Edward G. Gando, Acting Governor, met with the representatives of the City Government of Iloilo and DoubleDragon Properties Corp. in a meeting initiated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Iloilo City to address issues and concerns on the use of Guimaras-Iloilo Ferry Terminal for Buenavista bound passengers, March 27, 2017.
The shallow docking area, dredging and reinforcement piles, limited number of pump boats that can be accommodated in the docking area, the low and high tide concerns, berthing area for pumpboats, and lack of shed in the docking area making it unsafe and inconvenient for passengers during inclement weather are some of the issues mulled.
Further, management concerns, procedure and process flow, schedule of operations, and queuing, and waiting areas were likewise tackled.
After agreements were set, an ocular visit was conducted at the terminal.
Meanwhile, a dry-run to be conducted on April 5 and 6, 2017 is eyed to be an effective mechanism to identify a more effective in-and-out of the passengers.
The issues and concerns of the Province of Guimaras were consolidated through a dialogue called by Atty. John Edward G. Gando, Acting Governor, with various stakeholders on March 24, 2017 at the GTIC Board Room attended by motorbanca associations, provincial and municipal officials (Transportation Committee Chairmen), Provincial and Municipal Planning and Development Officers, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other stakeholders. /PIO-Guimaras; Photo credits: Google, Cris Alapar*
